Leonardo da Vinci's birthplace lies around 3 kilometres from Vinci, in Anchiano.
It has long been thought, based on theories suggested by historian Emanuele Repetti, that Leonardo was born in this country residence on 15 April 1452.The surrounding landscape is still very similar to that which Leonardo would have known as a young boy.
Inside is a permanent educational exhibition that includes reproductions of drawings depicting views of the Tuscan countryside and a map of Valdarno drawn by Leonardo. |
